In 2021, LASA is partnering with some of our member groups to deliver 3 regional Landcare forums.
On Monday 19th April – (Meningie) and Tuesday 20th April – (Sherlock / Karoonda), LASA will be partnering with the Farm Forestry Landcare Network to deliver 2 Farm Forestry Field days at properties in Meningie and Karoonda. (please note date change from LASA March Newsletter) The field days will showcase successful farm forestry operations and provide expert advice to farmers hoping to establish farm forestry on their properties. Guest speaker will be Australia’s leading farm forestry expert Rowan Reid. For bookings, contact Samantha Blight at Coorong District Council on 0447 900 001 or e-mail sblight@coorong.sa.gov.au. Places are limited, so be sure to get in early!
On Sunday May 16th from 10 am – 3:30 pm, LASA will partner with the Barossa Bushgardens for their Open Day and Landcare Forum. The Open Day celebrates the Bushgardens’ 20th Anniversary and will be a fantastic family day with hands on environmental activities for all ages. This is a Covid safe event with Covid marshalls on hand to work with 1,000 person capacity expected. Attendees are asked to check in via a QR code using their phone or sign in by hand. Take part in citizen science activities with insect specialist Dr Erinn Fagan-Jeffries, build a nesting box with LASA, participate in bird watching and ID with Phil Barron, take part in art activities and listen to local music in a beautiful natural setting, plus much more.
LASA is also aiming to partner with the Kangaroo Island Landscape Board to deliver a Landcare Forum on the Island. The forum will showcase the work of two Landcare groups who have received WIRES/Landcare Australia grants on the Island and bring together farmers who are working to improve their land and soils after the recent bushfires. Standby for updates on our website and in our June newsletter.
