Minster Hunter to open the National Landcare Network meeting in Adelaide, 23 to 24 May, 2016.

The Landcare Association of SA and the National Landcare Network will celebrate meeting in Adelaide with a 2016 SA Celebration of Landcare on Monday and Tuesday 23-24 May, 2016

The Hon Ian Hunter MLC, Minister for Sustainability, Environment and Conservation, will open the meeting at the Tandanya National Aboriginal Cultural Institute, Adelaide, on Monday 23 May. Minister Hunter will recognise the recent signing of a Mutual Agreement between the Landcare Association of SA and the Presiding Members of the 8 SA Natural Resources Management Boards by presenting a commemorative plaque to the association and the Chair of the Presiding Members Mr Frank Brennan.

At the meeting the Minister and the Landcare Association of SA will acknowledge the Aboriginal Lands Trust as it celebrates its 50th year of management of aboriginal lands in South Australia. The Minister will present the Trust with a commemorative plaque to mark the 50th anniversary. The Chair of the Trust, Mr Haydyn Bromley, will receive the award on behalf of the Trust.

Mr Gerry Butler, Chairman of the Landcare Association of SA said that “it is a privilege to be host of the National Landcare Network meeting and we look forward to some significant discussions about the future of landcare in Australia.”

A Celebration of Landcare dinner, with the National Landcare Network members from all States and Territories, DEWNR staff and other special guests will be held at the Kensington Hotel, Regent Street, Kensington, on Monday 23/5/16 from 6.00-9.00pm.

DEWNR CE Ms Sandy Pitcher will attend the dinner and has agreed to sponsor the attendance of Presiding Members and Regional Directors from each of the regional NRM Boards at the dinner.
