Paul Ryan to run a resilience workshop for landcare groups

LASA is very fortunate to have secured Paul Ryan, Director, Australian Resilience Centre, to run a one-day Resilience Workshop for landcare groups on the 4th of July in Clare.

Paul was a keynote speaker at the 2015 State Community Landcare Conference in Waikerie and his presentation was one of the highlights of the conference. He is an excellent presenter and a Leader in the application of resilience thinking to natural resource management. Over the past seven years Paul has facilitated over 400 days of resilience-based planning, assessment and training throughout Australia and internationally. This includes many workshops for landcare and other community groups.

Paul will be in Adelaide for the National Climate Change Adaptation Conference and has agreed to extend his stay in Adelaide to run the workshop.

The workshop will focus on how to plan and manage the cycles that all groups go through. The objective of the workshop is to give landcare group members an understanding of the theory and practice of resilience planning and the tools that they can use to keep their group functioning at its best.

The aim is to make it as hands on as possible so that participants can leave with action plans to help their group through the various up and down phases. Importantly, groups need to make plans and take action while they are in the up phase, not just when they are in the down phase.

More information on the workshop will be provided over the coming few weeks.
