Willunga Environment Centre
We are a not for profit organisation that supports many local action groups and volunteer engagement. WEC (Willunga Environment Centre) is part of a network of 9 community-based Environment Centres in South Australia. WEC covers the Willunga Basin area, which is bounded by Pedler Creek, Kangarilla, Willunga and Sellicks Beach. WEC activities: - encourages & supports the community in achieving environmental and economic sustainability in the Willunga Basin and surrounding areas, - engages in local environmental projects, - provides community groups and individuals with knowledge by way of articles, research information, printed material and general information, - facilitates access to training and to other organisations which can provide advice, or supply detailed or specialist information, - educates and informs the community through regular guest speaker workshops on a diverse range of topics, - hosts the YACCA (Youth and Community in Conservation Action) Project, which connects school-aged students to the environment and gives them skills to take positive sustainable action, - provides a recycling service which to date (June 2023) has recycled over 500,000 items
