Burundian Community of South Australia

The Burundian Community of South Australia Inc. (BCSA) currently delivers community programs and activities that promote social inclusion, cultural connection, education, wellbeing and active community participation. Current BCSA activities include the Community Garden Program, Women’s Sewing Program, Kirundi Language and Cultural School, youth engagement activities, men’s community activities, health and wellbeing programs, sport and recreation activities, cultural events, community education, settlement support and community meetings. BCSA’s principal activity relevant to community Landcare is its Community Garden Program. Through this program, community members participate in gardening, sustainable food growing, maintenance of shared outdoor spaces, general clean-up activities, waste reduction and practical environmental education. BCSA has an ongoing interest in strengthening its environmental activities and contributing to the maintenance, protection and improvement of local natural and working landscapes through community participation, environmental education and partnerships with Landcare groups, councils and other environmental organisations.
