A list of plants available at the sale will be on the Kersbrook Landcare Nursery website about 1 week prior to the sale. On Wednesday the 5th of May, I paid a visit to the Kersbrook Landcare Nursery to check out preparations for the sale. Volunteers staff the nursery and were on hand in good numbers on the day, tending to native plants in preparation for the nursery’s June Public Plant Sale. Nursery Manager Heidi Pitman gave me a quick tour of the nursery and explained how the nursery operates on the SA Water site, adjacent to the South Para Reservoir. I met two local volunteers, well known botanist Rosemary Taplin and retired Parks ranger and CFS volunteer Steve Taylor, who both have a wealth of knowledge about local environmental issues and native plants.

The nursery is run very professionally and successfully and all profits from the nursery are used to fund local environment groups and projects in the Barossa region.

Kersbrook Landcare Nursery won the SA State Landcare Community Group Award in 2019 and are finalists in that category at the National Landcare Awards to be held in Sydney in August 2021. The group has opted to attend the National Awards virtually and will be holding a local celebratory event on the night of the awards on Thursday August 5th. We wish them (and the other eight SA Landcare Award winners) all the best for the National Landcare Awards.
