3. What’s the difference between the new Landcare SA Members Insurance Package and the insurance currently offered by Landscape Boards (also known as SAFA or SAiCorp)?

In some regions, Landcare (and similar) groups are able to access free Public Liability and Volunteer Personal Accident insurance through their local Landscape Board. These offers are not consistent across the state and are not available in some regions. The Landcare SA Members Insurance Package will provide equal access to insurance for groups across all regions.

This package will also provide:

  • Access to free Association Liability insurance to protect the group and its committee members for claims made against them while carrying out their duties for the group.
  • Coverage for the licenced use of chainsaws by group members/volunteers.
  • Reduction in the administrative burden for groups working across multiple regions or landowners.

4. What’s the difference between the new Landcare SA Members Insurance Package and the previous Landcare Insurance Package?

LASA previously offered the Landcare Insurance Package in partnership with Ceneta Insurance Services. This package provided Landcare (and similar) groups with access to Public Liability, Volunteer Personal Accident and Association Liability insurance at a cheaper price than available through mainstream insurance providers. Groups had to be incorporated to access the package and were asked to organise their insurance through Ceneta independently of LASA.

The original Landcare Insurance Package is still available to member and non-member Landcare groups. Please click here for more information about this package.

The new Landcare SA Members Insurance Package will see LASA as the master insurance policy holder, with registered member groups listed under LASA. Your group does not have to be incorporated to access the three insurance policies under this new package. LASA will play a deeper role in collecting and collating membership data for the insurance provider, and in assisting groups to access the insurance package. We can also support you if your group needs to make a claim.

We are offering this new insurance package to our member groups for free, and will also cover excesses up to a combined total of $5,000/yr across all covered groups.

The Landcare SA Members Insurance Package is part of the Care for Landcare Program funded by the Government of South Australia.
