The Landcare Association of South Australia (LASA) is the peak advocacy and representative body for Landcare in South Australia.
Formed in 1999, we are an independent, non-government and not-for-profit community organisation dedicated to supporting and advocating for community Landcare and ecologically sustainable management in South Australia. In partnership with governments, non-government organisations (NGOs) and industry, LASA supports individual Landcarers, community groups, farmers and landholders to protect, restore and enhance South Australia’s biodiversity, landscapes and waterways.
We are a member of the National Landcare Network (NLN), along with the other State and Territory peak bodies, funded by the Australian Government’s National Landcare Program and the SA Government’s Care for Landcare Program. We represent South Australian Landcarers at national and state level and provide channels for federal and state funding and support to reach grassroots Landcare in our state.
We are led by our Management Committee made up of volunteers that are deeply passionate about Landcare in SA, and staff members that manage the day-to-day activities. This includes building capacity and resilience in community Landcare and environmental groups, advocating for the interests of these groups when lobbying for funding and support from government and industry, assisting with grant applications and auspicing and project management of Landcare-led Bushfire Recovery on Kangaroo Island, among many others.
