Vicki-Jo Russell, AM, Revegetation Services Manager, Trees for Life
Vicki-Jo Russell is passionate about nature, sustainable natural resource management and the people who work to achieve it. She has been a driving force in biodiversity conservation in South Australia for over twenty-five years, initiating and influencing a range of significant programs, plans and policies over that time.
The Australian Landcare Council, National Wildlife Corridor Plan Advisory Board, Natural Resource Management Council, National Parks and Wildlife Council and Adelaide Mount Lofty Ranges regional NRM Board are among her important Board appointments.
She has worked in roles for WWF-Australia, Conservation SA, the Australian Marine and Coastal Society, Zoos SA and currently manages South Australia’s iconic Tree Scheme and Nursery for Trees For Life.
Ms Russell has been an inspirational driver behind an alliance of South Australian government and eNGOs including the Landcare Association of SA to develop The Nature of SA project.
Her services to the State were acknowledged in 2014 when she was the recipient of the SA Premier’s Award for Service to NRM. She was awarded an Order of Australia earlier in her career for her service to threatened species recovery and community engagement in nature conservation in Australia.
