The Clare Valley is a vibrant rural community where livelihoods are underpinned by agriculture (grazing, viticulture and broadacre crops).
Inspiring the next generation of farmers to enhance biodiversity in our farming landscapes will contribute to the long-term resilience of these agricultural livelihoods.
Over National Tree Day in 2024, an event will be run in the Clare Valley where three schools (>100 students) will team up with three farmers (and some volunteers) and learn about sustainable agriculture and nature repair through helping farmers to revegetate patches of their land. It is hoped that this will become an annual event so that children can revisit sites to witness the growth in vegetation and gain a better understanding of the long term environmental, economic, and social outcomes of nature repair. This event will be a partnership between Three Corners Consulting, the York and Northern Landscape Board, Landcare Association of SA, AgExcellence, Aborgreen, Van Schaik’s Bio Gro, Medika Gallery, and Trees for Life. The Clare Valley Private Lands Group helps to plan, coordinate and implement the National Tree Day event.
